Welcome to the Porescale Benchmark Project

 

The idea behind the Porescale Benchmark Project is to establish basic comparison projects, analyse and exchange the results, and learn from the experience. We expect to organize workshops/ minisymposia etc. at upcoming community meetings devoted to this ongoing porescale benchmark project and propose special issue(s) of journal papers devoted to it.

 

GOALS
Many of us have (access to) data (porescale and experimental) and/or various computational algorithms for porescale algorithms but also lack the ability to compare our results. Hence the idea to establish a venue for benchmarking. The phenomena and models of interest include i) multiphase flow, ii) saturated flow and reactive transport with precipitation/dissolution, iii) pore network, lattice models, as well as iv) traditional flow and transport solvers, v) qualitative and quantitative aspects of upscaling from porescale.

 

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Anyone who is interested in participating is welcome to do so. Participation can be in the form of sharing experimental or numerical data, or proposing a theoretical benchmark for a group to work on. Similarly, numerical code that is available to the public can be shared on the software page.

 

We ask that you provide links to your various types of resources as opposed to uploading large amounts of data to this wiki space.

The pages in this wiki are organized under 4 headers: Modeling, numerical, and experimental benchmarks, as well as software. Under each header, data is organized into subheaders, i.e., single-phase flow, multi-phase, reactive transport, etc.. And under these subheaders, data can be further classified into more detailed subject areas - see ex. below.

 

Under each header, there is a READ_ME file that will provide additional help.
